Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the ASEAN Secretariat are cooperating to establish endowed lectures in major agriculture- and food-related universities in ASEAN countries. The Fuji Oil Group, which was early to develop its business in the ASEAN region, is now entering its second year of cooperation with the endowed lectures.
Many Japanese companies that are developing business in ASEAN countries face the task of attracting local leaders who will not only learn technology from Japan but who are also well-versed in local culture and markets. The provision of lectures on Japanese food processing technology and research and development is expected to increase the value of food resource usage and to contribute to the construction of environmentally considerate production processes.

On September 13, FUJI OIL ASIA PTE. LTD., participated in an endowed lecture at the National University of Singapore in the field of food processing, with about 50 students and professors in attendance.
Masahiko Samoto, the vice head of R&D Division for Future Creation at FUJI OIL HOLDINGS INC. delivered a lecture on the academic study of soy protein and the current situation of the Japanese market, and offered students the opportunity to sample premium soymilk manufactured by the USS manufacturing method. In addition, Foo Siew Wie, General Manager of the Asia R&D Center of FUJI OIL ASIA provided an introduction to the chocolate manufacturing of the Fuji Oil Group. The enthusiasm of participants was reflected in the active question and answer sessions that took place.

Fuji Oil is offering cooperation with the lectures in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' ASEAN Human Resource Development Project. The Fuji Oil Group anticipates that the cooperation will lead to the future performance of soy-related research together with the National University of Singapore. The Fuji Oil Group also intends to continue making contributions in areas that include human resource development.
